Woodblock printing as an artform gained prominence in the Post War period of Singapore’s history. The images depicted what was seen in the streets and beyond, from large events such as disasters and accidents, to daily routine and traditional customs. This talk will explore the work of five prominent Singaporean artists who used woodblock techniques to reflect on history, change and the reality of the times during the 1950s and 60s.
