The 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and the on-going Eurozone Sovereign Debt Crisis elicited similar responses in East Asia and the EU. In his presentation, Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo will provide us insights from his current comparative analysis of the evolution and current state of the regulatory basis underpinning the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM) and the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) as well as on the relationship between the two regional mechanisms and the IMF in its liquidity provision function. Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo is Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of European & International Studies, King’s College London and Adjunct Researcher at the Centre for Banking and Finance Law, the Law Faculty, the National University of Singapore. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).
