Dear Cornellians and Friends

Happy National Day! Read on for more about our SG50 Restaurant Club Visit to NUDE seafood.

We’ve had a marvelous spring and summer following the Charter Day Fiesta celebration at Hombre Cantina in April where more than 70 alumni attended and another great annual satay party last month seeing 50 freshmen, students and alumni come by to send-off the new batch of very promising students. So good to see the Cornell spirit alive this 150th year.

I’m also pleased to share that Vincent Chen ’69 has once again made a donation of $1,000 to the Cornell Club Singapore for another year and we thank him dearly for his active support of the club.

Cornell Restaurant Club Celebrates SG50 at Nude Seafood!
The Cornell Restaurant Club is back to support one of our very own during this National Day month. Junchen Hong, Arts and sciences 2008, has taken the bold and entrepreneurial step to open a successful seafood restaurant at MBFC.

In his words:

“We democratise good seafood, by serving fine-dining meals at affordable prices with the efficiency of fast food. We source exceptional ingredients and cook them simply, transparently–nude. Nude also because our food is nutritious and delicious. The sort of food we serve family and friends. In essence, we make real food, fast.”

For a special celebration for Cornell alumni, he is offering a special 3-course chef’s board of the day’s finest catch.
Date and time: Wednesday 19 August 7.30pm
Place: Nude Seafood 12 Marina Blvd, Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3, #01-02, 018982

It was great to have many opportunities to see everyone in the last few months and also sad to learn a few of our alumni (Tim and Nancy Brown, Laura Freedman, Kieran Dunne) are leaving Singapore soon. Thank you for being a part of our community while you were here. Your presence and contributions were much appreciated and you’ll be missed dearly.

For everyone who is still around, don’t shy lah, I’ll see you at NUDE.
